Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains how personal data is handled in the mobile game Tuscany Ride for
Android (package name com.tuscanyride, “the app”) and on the website
tuscanyride.com (“the website”).
- The app needs no account, shows no ads and contains no analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs.
- We, the developer, receive no personal data from the app. Everything the app records stays on your device.
- The app goes online only if you use the optional internet radio. It then connects to the station directory and to the station you choose.
- Bluetooth is used only to connect your fitness devices. Location is never determined.
- The website uses no cookies and no analytics.

2. The app
2.1 Data that stays on your device
The app processes the following data only locally on your device. It is not transmitted to us or to any third party by the app.
| Data | Purpose | Where it is stored |
|---|---|---|
| Game progress and settings (money, bikes, errands, records, language, graphics, sound, radio station list) | To continue your game | The app's private storage |
| Trainer data: power, cadence, speed; your rider weight and FTP if you enter them | To move your rider, set the trainer's resistance and show your values | The app's private storage (settings) and your ride files |
| Heart rate from a Bluetooth heart rate strap, if you connect one | To show it while you ride and record it in your ride file | Your ride files only |
| Ride files (.fit): time, virtual route and altitude, distance, speed, power, cadence, heart rate of each ride | So you can keep your rides and, if you wish, import them into another service yourself | Documents/TuscanyRide on your device |
| In-game photographs (pictures of the game world taken with the in-game camera) | Your photo album | Pictures/TuscanyRide on your device |
Heart rate is health data. It is processed only on your device, only if you connect a heart rate strap yourself, and it is never sent to us or anyone else by the app. The ride files contain no real location: the coordinates in them are your route through the game world, laid on a fixed spot in Tuscany, never where you are. If you share a ride file or photo with another app or service, that is your choice, and the privacy policy of that service applies.
2.2 Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
Bluetooth (BLUETOOTH_SCAN, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT; on Android 11 and older BLUETOOTH, BLUETOOTH_ADMIN) |
To find and connect your smart trainer, heart rate strap and other Bluetooth fitness devices. The scan is declared “never for location”. Without this permission the game runs in demo mode. |
Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, Android 11 and older only) |
Android 11 and older only allow Bluetooth scanning with this permission. The app never uses it to determine your location, and it does not request it on Android 12 and newer. |
Internet (INTERNET) |
Inside the app, the game talks to its own Bluetooth component over a connection that never leaves the device (127.0.0.1). Outside the device it is used only for the optional internet radio (2.3). |
2.3 Optional internet radio
Instead of the game's own music you can listen to an internet radio station. This feature is used only if you switch it on yourself; otherwise the app makes no connections to the internet.
- Station directory: when you search for stations, the app sends your search words (or a country code) to radio-browser.info, a free, community-run directory of internet radio stations. When you pick a station from the directory, the app tells the directory which station was picked (the directory uses this to rank popular stations).
- Radio station: while you listen, the app receives the audio stream directly from the server of the station you chose.
In both cases the app identifies itself only as “TuscanyRide/1.0” and sends no information about you. As with any internet connection, the server you connect to receives your device's IP address and the time of the request. We have no access to this data. The directory and the stations are independent third parties, may be located outside the European Union, and are responsible for their own processing; please see their privacy information. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (you ask for the feature) and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in offering the radio).
2.4 Google Play
The app is distributed through Google Play. When you download or update it, Google processes data under its own responsibility; see the Google Privacy Policy. We do not use any Google services inside the app.
2.5 Data sharing and selling
We do not collect, share, sell or rent personal data from the app. There are no advertising networks, analytics services or other third-party SDKs that would receive data.
2.6 Retention and deletion
- Game progress and settings stay until you start a new game in the menu, clear the app's data in your Android settings, or uninstall the app.
- Ride files and photos are your own files in Documents/TuscanyRide and Pictures/TuscanyRide. They stay after uninstalling until you delete them yourself, for example in your Files app.
- Because we do not receive any data from the app, we hold nothing about you that we would need to delete.
2.7 Security
Your data stays on your device and is protected by Android's app sandbox and your device's own security. The internet radio's directory is reached over an encrypted connection (HTTPS); some radio stations only offer unencrypted streams.
2.8 Children
The app does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children. It has no chat, no account and no way to share content with other players.
3. The website
3.1 Hosting
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit it, Cloudflare processes technically necessary access data (IP address, date and time, requested page, browser details) to deliver the pages and to protect them against attacks. Legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in a secure, working website). Data may be transferred to the USA; Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. See the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
3.2 No cookies, no analytics
The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking and loads no content from other servers; even the font is served from this website.
3.3 Email
If you write to us by email, we use your address and your message only to answer you, and delete them when they are no longer needed for that purpose (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
4. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Since we do not store personal data from the app, these rights mostly concern emails you send us and the website's access data. To exercise them, write to contact@tuscanyride.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Austria the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde).
5. Changes to this policy
If the app or the website changes in a way that affects your data, we will update this policy and its effective date. The current version is always available at tuscanyride.com/privacy.
